Playa Guajataca
The northwest coast of Puerto Rico, where our Hotel El Guajataca is located, is a world-class zone for surfing. This area has been host to International Surfing Association's events such as 1968 and 1988 World Surfing Titles and the 2007-ISA World Masters. Beaches of this category around the area includes: Surfer's beach, Table Tops, Gas Chamber, Las Ruinas, Survivor, Jobos, Tres Palmas, Domes, Golondrinas, Montones, Middles, Secret Spot, Shacks, y Shore Island. Our Guajataca Bay is a known beach to practice the surfing sport in Puerto Rico.

In Puerto Rico you can practice the surfing, windsurfing, kite boarding and many other waves and sail sport all year around. This is possible thanks to our trade winds comind from tghe Atlantic. Puerto Rico best surfing season period is from October until mid of April. May offers occasional good waves but not as consistent as surfing season period. The windy northwest coast of Puerto Rico is well to to those in the surfing world. The north coast of Puerto Rico looks to the Atlantic Ocean and brings heavy waves to its beaches as well as offering reef protected beaches perfect for water sports. This area is very green and tropical, with the beaches backed by the central mountain range.. On January 8th, 2004, the government of Puerto Rico approved the "Reserva Marina Tres Palmas" law for the benefit of all the Norwest zone. This law promotes the preservation of the ocean coral reef ecosystem of this area.
